My Background: Who I am and why I think this is important.
I am, first and foremost, a woman who believes that living humbly and in community with others and my surroundings is the most powerful statement that I can make. It's easy to wander through life with blinders on, ignoring the impact our actions may have on others and our world. However, I to strive to be a healing force, both for myself and my world, and to help others to do the same. By doing this, I not only provide a positive place for my children, but a healthier life for myself. I also firmly believe that if you don't take care of yourself, you can't possibly take care of others. It's really a wonderful cycle to discover; the more you pay attention to your surroundings, the more your surroundings help and heal you, and the happier and healthier you and your family become.
As a mother of two wonderful girls, and wife to a National Park Service ecologist, my family is the center of my world. To that end, I strive to ensure that the world my girls grow up in will be safe and healthy for them. My great passions in life are the outdoors, food, and my community. I believe in respecting the earth and all she has to offer. My hope is that I leave a small footprint behind when I am no longer here, and I'm working to pass these ideals on to my children.
In 2012, we moved to just outside Sequoia National Park in California. Having the great outdoors at your fingertips is an awesome experience. Much of the rest of my life was spent in the San Francisco Bay Area and other urban locations. While I loved urban living, and miss much of what that offered, life in the Sierra Nevada foothills has given me a greater appreciation and understanding for how our actions, however small they may seem to us, can influence and affect the larger systems around us.
My background is in health and clinical psychology research, social work, counseling and massage therapy, with more recent study in Functional Medicine. My current work as a health coach has allowed me to develop and implement wellness programs for large organizations like the National Park Service, as well as for individuals and groups. Join me in finding your optimal wellness, and discover how wonderful it feels to find a healthy you!
